The Miami Connection
At the Knolls of Oxford
A formal affiliation with Miami University has helped prepare a manuscript for tomorrow’s leaders by providing the next generation with hands on experience that is beneficial to both residents and students.
Not only does the affiliation provide social, recreational, and educational opportunities, but it also allows students and staff to pursue innovative research in areas that directly affect our residents. Together, these two generations can make a lasting impact by embracing technology and inventive, quality programming throughout our communities.
Stay in the Fun
Generations Just Wanna Have Fun
The Knolls of Oxford’s formal affiliation with Miami University remains as strong as ever and was celebrated in November of 2019 with a 5 year agreement renewal signing. Residents wearing their Miami red and white packed the auditorium to enjoy a tailgate-style party and listened to remarks from the president’s office as well as entertainment from the Miami Men’s Glee club.
This unique partnership allows residents to enjoy continuing education like the Institute for Learning in Retirement (ILR) as well as on site presentations from faculty like Dr. Kate de Madieros speaking on aging and stereotypes or Dr. Dean Smith demonstrating the latest in balance screening technology.
Recently, a brand new collaboration called the First Gen program was launched. This is an exciting new partnership between first generation college students at Miami and TKO residents who are also first generation college graduates. The program will include an experiential learning credit for students, a pinning ceremony, and an eventual ILR class collaboration.
